Services Offered

We offer the following services at Mangat Family Dentistry, P.C.

• Oral Exam
It is important to see your dentist every six months for an oral exam to ensure the continued health of your teeth and gums. We also conduct an oral cancer screening to encourage early detection. Checkups ensure that problems can be caught early and adequately monitored or treated conservatively. Problems allowed to advance in your teeth and gums can not only cause problems in your mouth but can also affect your general health. For a comprehensive oral exam, we also include digital radiography to assist in diagnosis.

• Routine Cleaning/ Treatment of Gum Infection
The first phase of treatment is to maintain healthy gums. We inform and educate our patients in how to maintain the health of their gums with brushing and flossing. It is recommended that these visits occur at least every 6 months or even a shorter time period depending on the severity of the inflammation. During these visits, the hygienist as well as the dentist will encourage and educate on the ways to properly remove plaque build up and maintain proper oral hygiene. Deeper cleanings called “Scaling and Root Planing” are required should the deposits of plaque and calculus go below the gum line. This may require anesthesia in order to ensure a comfortable visit.

• Children’s Dentistry
We treat children of all ages. Despite the temporary nature of your child’s teeth, pediatric dentistry is as important as dental visits for adults. Keeping primary (baby) teeth healthy and intact serves a variety of purposes:
I. Lip or Tongue- Tie can interfere with child nourishment. Early diagnosis can correct this problem easily. To diagnose this problem, the child should be examined even before the first primary tooth has erupted.
II. Maintaining space for the eventual eruption of permanent teeth.
III. Facilitating normal speech development
IV. Giving permanent teeth a healthier start.

• Cosmetic Dentistry
Our office provides veneers as well as whitening to ensure an excellent esthetic result for our patients.

• Composite/Amalgam Fillings
Caries or “cavities” as they are often called are a demineralization or “hole” in the tooth caused by a relentless attack of sugar and acid on teeth that can result in a loss of vitality of the tooth. Our office offers fillings to remove the decay and to restore the tooth arrest the process of a cavity. A filling preserves the integrity of the tooth and prevents further damage.

There are a variety of filling materials available including silver (amalgam), tooth-colored composite resin, and porcelain. We will recommend the best suitable restoration based on the amount of restoration that needs to be done, the location of the filling, your personal preferences, and your budget.

• Crown & Bridge/Implant Restorations
When teeth are broken down to the point where a filling is no longer an option to restore the strength of the tooth, our office offers crowns to help “cap” and protect the tooth. These are fixed appliances. Bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth. Crowns can also be placed on implants which are placed into the bone to mimic the root structure of a tooth.

There are a variety of materials available for dental crowns. We will recommend the type of crown/ bridge which will best serve the patient needs.

• Partial and Complete Dentures
Our office provides removable appliances. Partial dentures are not permanently affixed to neighboring teeth. They are easy to keep clean and cost less than fixed appliances. New partials made of softer material are also used where indicated.

We also provide complete dentures which replace an entire arch. Allowing a few months for healing after extraction of all teeth, complete dentures can be fabricated for the patient. Immediate dentures are available and can be used immediately following the extraction. However, these appliances do not allow for the tissue to heal and therefore require more adjustment over time. Eventually, immediate dentures are replaced with conventional dentures.

• Root Canals/Endodontic Therapy
We perform most root canals right in our office. Root canals treat teeth when the extent of the decay or the damage involves the nerve or pulp of the tooth. Root canals have been rumored to be painful, but modern technique and anesthesia make the procedure comfortable. Once a root canal is done on a tooth, the tooth can become brittle and must be crowned/capped or filled in order to prevent breakage.

• Oral Surgery
If the tooth can’t be saved by endodontic treatment, our office offers extractions as an alternative treatment. Most extractions are done in our office, however, we will refer to trusted, local oral surgeons should the patient require sedation.

• Teeth Whitening/ Night Guards
We offer in-office or take home teeth whitening. In-office teeth whitening typically takes around 45 minutes. A dental assistant or hygienist will place the whitening agent after covering the gums. We also provide take home tooth whitening. After fabricating custom-made bleaching trays for your teeth, bleaching material is provided for your home use.

We also fabricate night guards which are used for bruxism and for sports. Bruxism is the involuntary or habitual grinding of the tooth, typically during sleep.
